Introduction: In line with the new directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and in order to help students improve their English language ability EIBFS will run an IELTS preparation courses for those students wishing to join the banking diploma in August 2009.  The course will be offered twice, in April & June. The course will prepare students for the IELTS exam, which is the benchmark for English Language proficiency.

Aims: The course will allow students to

·        Revise common grammar and language structures

·        Practice the range of question types that are found in the IELTS test.

·        Practice and develop skills in Speaking Listening Reading and Writing.

·        Cover a range of topics that commonly occur in the IELTS test.

·        Gain tips on how to avoid mistakes and maximise their test marks.

Methodology: Students will attend classes for 4 hours 3 times per week. There will be classes in the morning and evening. Classes will use a core text and supplementary material. Classes will combine work on all 4 modules of the IELTS exam Listening Speaking Reading and Writing. There will also be a large amount of work done on familiarising students with the types of questions they will face in the exam and tactics for maximising their marks. 

There will also be self study materials and computer based learning resources available. Students will be asked to prepare assignments and study outside of class hours.

Outcomes: Students who apply themselves fully both during class sessions and in their own time could expect to improve their IELTS test score by between 0.5 and 1 IELTS band.

Course 1

March 29^th Applications will be accepted from potential students.

April 5^{th -} 10^th Entry Tests will be held.

April 12^th Students will be informed of results and placed in groups.

April 19^th Classes will begin.

June 11^th Classes End.

Course 2

May 20^th Applications will be accepted from potential students

June 1^st-15^th Entry Tests will be held.

June 17^th Students will be informed of results and placed in groups.

June 21^st Classes will begin.

August 13^th Classes End

Course Timing: 3 days /week: Morning 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM or Evening 5:00 – 9:00 PM

Fees

Each course will cost AED 4500. This includes textbook and examination fees.
